This project is the creation of a 20-piece collection for Bottega Veneta Fall/Winter 2023/2024. The collection is inspired by Ophelia's character in William Shakespeare's drama Hamlet and the concept of Biophilia. The 20-piece collection plays with Bottega Veneta's notorious weaving technique, Intrecciato, a symbolic artisan technique that initially arose from a creative coincidence rather than a creative strategy. Intrecciato reminds us of the interweaving of tree roots in the ground. The intertwined roots provide strength and stability to trees that interweave with other roots, who live in an embrace of others. A connection is formed that allows them to nourish and support each other - a nod to Biophilia. The Bottega Green created by Daniel Lee is recalled throughout the COLLECTION as well as Mathieu blazy's trompe l'oeil leather pieces.
